PLEASE SUPPORT OUR APPLICATION FOR NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT IN LORRIMORE SQUARE GARDENS!!!!

Dear all
Please send a return email to surreygardensTRA@gmail.com ASAP before Friday 7th November 2014 saying:-
"We support the Cleaner Application for new Play Equipment in Lorrimore Square Gardens"
And put your name and street where you live!  That's all we need!! PLEASE HELP - see why below!!
The reason is the park is currently shut due to very old and hazardous children's play equipment - over 15 years old now.

Much of the equipment is getting to a stage when it is unsafe and a child has already had an accident on the merry-go-round resulting in the whole park being closed for the last month.
The TRA has therefore decided to launch a bid for some Cleaner Greener funding to replace the area with new equipment for children ages 2 to 16 and to also add a 'keep fit' area and a table tennis area for people of all ages - similar to the one in Kennington Park.
However, the closing deadline in this Friday 7th November 2014!!!

Lorrimore Square is an invaluable park where children can play and adults can enjoy some green space without having to go as far from home as Pasley or Kennington Park.  It is a special area that the community fought hard to protect from redevelopment by negotiating a lease from the Council.

Therefore, we are sorry to approach you late in the date, but we would be most grateful if you are able to respond to this email indicating if you are willing to support our bid.
Please support this community application.

THANK YOU

Victoria

Hello everyone!
As reported on our blogspot below - we have secured grant funding for a 'greening' projecting involving 5 large oak planters full of wonderful plants and shrubs to transform the Churchward House area (between Lorrimore Road and Lorrimore Square) in a beautiful welcoming green area.

To celebrate this project's completion (hopefully by early September) we are planning an official opening ceremony and party in Lorrimore Square for residents and children on either Saturday 20th or Saturday 27th September 2014.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS & SUPPORT!!!

There have been similar parties and locals have volunteered with great success.
We have some funds to provide some food and soft drinks and some events but need more support.
Can anyone help with:-

  1. BBQ hire

  4. Steel Band/ Music/ Entertainment
  5. Clay Modelling (this was a great success with the children carried out by Sue!)

Update and Volunteers Needed!

Hello!

Reporting back from our TRA meeting last week.

As a result of residents bringing anti-social behaviour to the attention of the TRA, letters were sent out to residents at Lorrimore Square from Southwark Borough Council asking residents for their response and to report any issues back to the Council and also Shaughn Malcolm from the Council tried door to door visits.  No-one has responded!  If you need the Council to act to help you improve your area - PLEASE make sure you contact them to report any issues you have experienced.  The Council cannot act unless they have this information.

There is a BIG concern about the increase in drug dealing in the area so please please help keep our area safe by reporting any problems to the Council and Police (make sure you get a crime reference number).

We will be inviting a member of Safer Neighbourhoods to our next TRA so please come along.

We are hoping to invite a member of the Council to our next TRA regarding dog fouling, rubbish, fly tipping and recycling issues.

We are looking for volunteers to help assist with our new Churchward House Greening Project - see post below.  Come along to the TRA in July and see how you can help!

Hope to see you all on Tuesday 1st July at 7:30pm.

WE REALLY NEED YOU TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL AREA TO HELP MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US SO PLEASE COME ALONG TO YOUR TRA!!

WELCOME BACK TO SURREY GARDENS TRA 2014

Dear All

Thank you for visiting our Blog!

We have recently updated our TRA with a new Chair - Victoria, Vice-Chair - Oli and Secretary - Clare!

We have held three meetings, February, March and April and the minutes for what was discussed at those meetings will be posted in our minutes section on this blog (when I can figure out how to do that!).

A recent victory is that we have secured individual bike lockers for Forsythe Gardens thanks to the help of local residents - coming soon!

We have applied for funding for a local planting project and await confirmation - watch this space!

Current ongoing concerns raised and being followed up by the TRA are:-
  1. Anti Social Behaviour around Lorrimore Square
  2. Dog Fouling on the pavements
  3. Aggressive dogs
  4. Fly tipping
  5. General area cleanliness

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 6th May 2014 at 7:30pm in St Paul's Church, Lorrimore Square.

Please come along and support us - bring issues to our attention so we can help work together to improve our local area - together we are a stronger voice for positive action!
