The park was a zoo for pretty mu...It certainly is!<br /><br />The park was a zoo for pretty much the whole of the first half of the 19th century<br /><br />There was an event last year, organised by the Council, to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the zoo (which will hopefully be repeated again in the future).
