COMMUNITY FUNDING BID

COMMUNITY FUNDING BID

Surrey Gardens TRA is bidding for  funding that is being advertised by Southwark Council to support community projects. The money comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

We are proposing the idea of the 'Lorrimore Green Corridor' which connects Forsyth Gardens with Pasley Park in order to provide and improve much-needed green space in the area. The application comes with the support of St Paul's Church.

Below is a photo of part of the current Forsyth Gardens followed by what it could look like and a map of the proposed 'Green Corridor'.

COVID-19 POSTER COMPETITION

During the very difficult first 3 weeks of lockdown we held a poster competition for children on the theme of 'Staying Positive'. We had nearly 20 entries and the creativity of the posters was incredible. It has been lovely to see the community enjoying the posters which are on display on the railings of Lorrimore Square Gardens. Well done to our lockdown artists!

COVID-19 SUPPORT

The TRA has put posters up around our area to advertise support and to ask for volunteers. We have set up a small whatsapp group of very local volunteers and are carrying out shopping tasks for neighbours in the TRA. Get in touch if you want help or can offer help: surreygardenstra@googlemail.com

We are also connected to the larger group run for the Newington area which has regular input from our councillors which neighbours may wish to join.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE 2019

This is now our third annual Christmas Fayre and another wonderful event in collaboration with St Paul's Church, Lorrimore Square. Word seems to have got out that it is a great way to spend a wintry afternoon. Father Christmas made his usual visit, the free craft staffs were very busy and the live reindeer were an absolute delight. We had a fantastic plant stall this year and there was a real buzz. Thank you to our local councillors Alice Macdonald and James Coldwell, and our MP Neil Coyle for coming to support us.

SUMMER PARTY 2019

What a fantastic day this was with GLORIOUS summer weather for our annual party in Lorrimore Square. So many neighbours helped to set up in the morning, looked after stalls on the day, and helped to clear away at the end - a real team effort. Thank you all for making it such a spectacular day.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE 2018

Wow. What an event! The weather was miserable which made us worry that nobody would come. But instead the neighbourhood came inside and enjoyed the free tea and coffee and stayed all afternoon! We had a Giant Human Inflatable Snow Globe (get in touch if you have photos of this!) and an awful lot of fun.
