1. Chair opened meeting, noted apologies
2. Chair’s Report:
- Chased Cleaner, Greener, Safer (CGS) over timing of work, no response yet. He will continue to chase (ACTION)
- Heritage Lottery Fund Grant for heritage boards:
Final costs and information regarding consultation process received from Cumming Museum. The consultation process will involve at least 2 adult and 1 child workshop, including a walkabout of the area
Meeting planned for 18/05/2010 with project team and Southark council parks department for parks sign-off, and confirmation that they will maintain the signs - Final application to be submitted at the end of May
- Tony handed out copy of application; it may take up to 1 year from approval for the project to be completed
- Picnic in the Park:
- Tony has contacted Southwark Life with regards to covering the Picnic in the Park in July. Have received a positive response from Southwark Housing News, who will cover the event and art project.
Sue to send photos of the children working on the art project. (ACTION) - Deadline for providing information to Southwark Housing News is 28 May
- Agreed date for picnic will be 6 July, starting at 6pm
- Cath to organise children’s entertainment including bouncy castle, and investigate Southwark community games (ACTION)
Volunteers for food preparation are Janette, Simon, Sue, Megan and Cath (ACTION) - Tony to speak to Graham regarding use of electricity and tables
- Website - nearly 500 visitors to website since launch
- Film location - most websites are looking for properties not entire locations; will continue to look
3. Treasurer’s Report:
- Positive balance, with £1000 due to come out for art project
4. Any other business:
- Art Project:
- 12 children involved. Sue has been enlarging templates and preparing the boards
- Boards in the electricity sub-station have been taken down
- Sue to put up notice on sub-station with an invitation to send drawing to Sue, in case local children using the park also want to take part (ACTION)
- Will review whether to grow climbers (e.g. ivy) up sub-station
- Sculptures in the park / Park maintanence:
- Have received an offer to varnish them
- John to agree and arrange (ACTION)
- Tony to write to Southwark council to get them to paint the park fence (ACTION)
- Redevelopment of 113 Lorrimore Road:
- Tony explained the proposed redevelopment, which will be 4 x 5 bed houses, designated as affordable housing
- The consultation ended at the end of April
- Tony has emailed the council to inform them of the TRA meeting, and that we will submit a response as a group after this meeting.
- Issues that will be raised in the response:
- Parking – this will increase strain on current limited parking in Lorrimore Road
- Architecturally in keeping / character of area / currently not many other large properties in area
- Potential of space to cater for more families
- How will local area benefit, e.g. TRA hall
- Lack of response from statutory bodies, e.g. environment department
- Agreed that the TRA recognises the need for housing, but above points need to be answered
- Tony to email response, so that everyone can comment before formally submitting (ACTION)
- Engineering works for Northern Line causing more people outside tube at the weekends:
- Marcus informed that council are putting new bins outside the tube and will ensure that these are emptied more regularly
- Marcus warned of ‘taxi touts’ at the weekend
- General bins on Lorrimore Road - Marcus has chased the council, and has not received a response yet
- Safer Neighbourhoods meeting - Marcus will attend this meeting on 26 May; which will be discussing safer neighbourhoods
- Leaseholder Forum - Megan raised that she had received a nomination form. Megan to show Tony the letter. Tony to investigate (ACTION)
- Housing Area Forum - John offered up a place at the forum. Our TRA is not regularly in attendance.
5. Next meeting – the next meeting will be held on Tuesday 8 June, 7.30 pm in St Paul’s, Lorrimore Square. This meeting will not be leafleted, but will be advertised via e-mail and on the website as normal.
